Travel Hacks

Traveling and exploring different parts of the world is one of the most exciting experiences. It’s important to plan and research before going on a trip. It is only possible to leave home by planning a trip impulsively, just like in movies. Unplanned trips are usually more expensive, inconvenient, and sometimes utterly miserable. To make your trip convenient, cheaper, and more enjoyable, it’s always best to plan and research as much as possible.

The more you travel, the more experiences you gain that will help you on your future journeys. After ten years of traveling a lot, I’ve learned a few tricks that will make your trip more fun and save you money.

13 Best Travel Hacks

There are a few tips that every traveler should know to save time and reduce stress while traveling. In addition to the obvious tips, I’ve also included some tricks that will help you travel with less stress.

1. Pack efficiently

You can stuff more into a single bag with excellent packing skills. Organize your clothes intelligently, tuck your belt under your shirt, and bring only what you need to stay comfortable. For a two-day excursion, you should be able to get away with four tops. Make sure you pack as early as possible! Make sure you always have extra space in case of an emergency.

2. Label your luggage as “fragile.”

It is completely free to label your bag “fragile.” You can request a “fragile” sticker at the checkout if you cannot avoid it. It is advantageous to place the fragile-tagged luggage first on the conveyor belt. Having the luggage label on your bag ensures that your luggage will be handled carefully and you’ll be able to check out earlier than expected.

3. Download Google Maps

You can download Google Maps if you’re unsure of your data plan or want offline backups for peace of mind. Google Maps can be downloaded by navigating to the location you wish to save on the map, typing “ok map” into the search field, and clicking “Download.” A recording of the screen is made for offline use. Adding pins or tagging specific locations is also possible since you won’t be able to browse offline. You can also take screenshots of specific areas at different levels of zoom for your own convenience.

4. Travel with a credit card

Consider a credit card that gives rewards if your credit rating is good and you travel often. Ultimately, this method will benefit you as you build credit. When you use a travel credit card overseas, you don’t have to pay a foreign transaction fee and you can still get rewards.

If you often travel with a certain airline, getting a credit card with their name on it can be helpful. When you don’t travel with a carry-on, you will receive free checked bags, boarding passes, and upgrades.

5. Download Apps for free calling

People have increasingly switched to online calling due to the digital age. Saving money during travel will be possible with this method. Whether you’re staying at a hotel, hostel, or Airbnb, there’s free Wi-Fi everywhere.

6. Filtered Bottle

A water bottle with a built-in filter is ideal for travels without access to fresh water. You can quench your thirst and save the environment at the same time by not throwing away another plastic bottle.

7. Keep your documents with you

A passenger’s travel documentation often needs to be included. The best way to organize your document records is to create a file in advance.

8. Charge your USB-capable devices With the hotel’s TV

Do you have multiple devices to charge, or didn’t you pack an adapter? There’s no need to worry – the television will save the day. Smartphones, iPods, iPads, and digital cameras can easily be connected to and charged with the USB inputs on most modern televisions.

9. Save a copy of your passport online

Physical copies are helpful, but forgetting them can cause serious problems. The easiest way to make sure that you always have a copy of your passport is to email yourself a scan of it. Following these simple procedures can save a lot of time and money.

10. Make sure you bring a mini first aid kit

Depending on your destination, a first-aid kit can save you from discomfort. Put some aspirin, Tylenol, cotton swabs, bandages, and antibacterial ointment in a clear plastic bag or sunglasses case to be ready for any emergency. It can be difficult to locate these essentials; therefore, having your store can make you feel more prepared.

11. Get a local sim card if traveling abroad

If your cell phone plan charges extra for international roaming, you can buy a local SIM card if you unlock your phone. A local data plan is usually less expensive than a global plan. It is often not at the airport that you can find the best deal on the sim card and the data package. If you need a local sim card to get to your hotel, the airport is the best place to get one so that you can activate the service. AT&T sim cards in Mexico cost about $10 for a week’s worth of data, which includes free social media.

12. Get Flights at better prices

You should only book the longest leg of your journey with a major international airline if you’re planning an international trip. It would help if you used a local airline within the country or region to reach your final destination. You’ll save a few hundred dollars on the flights. During your layover, you may have to exit the airport and re-enter through security since you are flying carry-on only.

13. Go plastic free

Keeping your suitcase plastic-free will save you space. The bars are not counted as liquids, so they can be taken in carry-on luggage and take up less room in your suitcase.

If you don’t have access to potable water, get a water bottle with a filter, that has a coconut filtration system. The cost of buying multiple single-use plastic water bottles daily will be reduced.

Final note

With the travel mentioned above hacks, you can surely enjoy your next trip to the fullest. It makes you a more intelligent and evolved traveler to be aware of these travel hacks. In addition to saving you some extra money, you’ll also be able to get a mug of cold beer for a better price if you use these travel hacks.
